Chiropractic Treatment

A Chiropractor is a primary healthcare professional trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent disorders of the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints and muscles), as well as the effects these disorders can have on the nervous system and general health. In Dubai, Chiropractic treatment is regulated by the Dubai Health Authority and Nightingale Health Services is a DHA approved center for Chiropractic treatment.

Chiropractic treatment mainly involves safe, specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly.

Apart from spinal manipulation, chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including ice, heat, ultrasound, tissue work/massage, taping and exercise, as well as advice about posture and lifestyle. Generally speaking if carried out by a qualified chiropractor, chiropractic treatment is pain free other than possible temporary discomfort if the area in question is in acute muscle spasm.

What to expect on your first appointment with Dr. Oliver

  • Please come 15 minutes early to your appointment so that you have sufficient time to fill in the new patient form.
  • Please bring any recent investigative reports with you if you have any (e.g. X-RAY, MRI report) to assist in the diagnostic process.
  • You will have up to a 45 minute long session which includes an initial assessment, report of findings and treatment.
  • Full patient history will be discussed in order to get the clearest picture of your condition which in turn will help build your treatment plan.
  • If required, Dr. Oliver will refer you for further investigation or on to other suitable health care practitioners.
  • Your assessment findings and consequent treatment plan will then be discussed with you post full physical assessment.

Clothing:

  • It is preferable that patients wear loose fitting clothes (e.g. sports/gym clothing) though this is not mandatory. Gowns are available for your convenience.

Side effects:

  • The most common side effect after chiropractic treatment is some mild muscle soreness in the area that has been treated. This usually corresponds to intensity of muscle spasm. This side effect is almost always negated by using ice packs post treatment on the area.
  • Rest assured, all treatments are carried out by our highly qualified and fully DHA licensed team.
